Best Life!
This past weekend was one of the best weekends that I’ve had in a very long time. It feels like everything is falling into place perfectly and I LOVE it.
Our whoopsy party on Saturday night was a smashing success! We ended up with a group of 25 friends at the house for dinner and drinks. We stopped counting at that point, it may have been even more. It’s really not about the quantity of people that you can say you know or are friends with, it’s about the love that you have for them and the quality of the relationships that you have spent years upon years building and the new friendships that you are excited about building over the coming months and years. All I know, is that our house was packed the max with amazing friends both new and old. The most interesting part of the group of friends we had, was that every single one of the people at the party were friends that we had met in real life without the internet. Some were friends that we have had for over 10 years and others were new friends that we’ve only known for a few weeks, but every single one was someone that we had met in our real lives away from the internet. It was amazingly refreshing. Don’t get me wrong, I love making friends online- but there is something to be said for having the ability to connect to people face to face away from technology who aren’t a part of the online “fat community.” I love all of my long distance friends and internet friends that I’ve met thanks to the “community,” but it’s so nice to sit in a room with a bunch of people and not have to talk about the internet or people from the internet and listen to other people maliciously rip apart others who are hundreds upon hundreds of miles away and don’t even exist in their real lives.
Another wonderful part of the party was that both Violet and I got to meet friends that we’ve both had separately for YEARS. Some of my friends from the party were girls I went to grade school with that I’m still friends with and haven’t been able to see since moving back from Chicago and I finally got to met Violet’s old art friends from her first college that she has known for almost a decade. It was amazing how well our groups of friends meshed together. It was like we’ve all been best friends the entire time. There was even some match making going on amongst our friend groups which is kind of adorable and exciting all at once! I know Violet and I are both very happy and lucky to have loving and caring men in our lives and we can’t help but wish for the same happiness for our friends.
But the best part of the weekend was probably our amazingly good luck that we had on our apartment hunt! We’ve been kind of poking around for a new place to live when our lease is up, nothing too serious though. Then we happened upon an amazing community located in one of the nicest parts of our town. It has the best shopping, the best food, the best entertainment and is located in the perfect place for all of our school and work commutes. The amenities that the community provides for it’s residents are priceless. We were so excited to tour the property, but very nervous about getting approved and even them having an opening for us since the wait list to move in there can be several months long. We applied anyway and crossed our fingers that we could get approved. Being that we are all young and Violet and I have an unusual work situation being self employed and all, we were a bit concerned that they wouldn’t even consider us since they are such a “high end” community. We turned in the application on Monday at noon and by 3 pm we had been approved! The woman said that considering how young we all are, our credit scores are amazing and that we were too sweet and our references were too good to turn down. We were SHOCKED! I am sooo excited to be moving into such a nice, upscale and quality community. Living in a big house for the past year has been nice and all, but I sure won’t miss moving the lawn in the summer and shoveling out the driveway in the winter. I’ll be too busy chilling by the pool and BBQing at the club house picnic area to really miss all the square footage and work that a house entails. Plus, I’ve always preferred smaller living spaces, though this apartment is pretty much as big as a ranch style home.
I’ve also been hard at work shooting new content for my website, www.HotFattyGirl.com! So be sure to pay me a visit.
